James Mortimer Wilson

James Mortimer "Jim" Wilson, 87, of St. Charles died Tuesday May 30, 2006 at Whitewater Healthcare Center in St. Charles. Jim was born October 31, 1918 in Rochester to Fred and Louise Wilson. He served in the Air Force during WWII, stationed in India as a Master Sergeant. After returning from the war Jim married Elvira Michael on June 11, 1946 in St. Charles, where they made their home. He owned and operated Jim Wilson's Garage in St. Charles from 1946 until his retirement. Jim served on the St. Charles City Council, was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church and church council, 40 year member of St. Charles Volunteer Fire Department and a member of St. Charles Veteran of Foreign Wars and American Legion Posts. He enjoyed mowing yard, fishing and most of all spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife Elvira, five children, Larry (Linda) Wilson of St. Charles; Keith (Linda) Wilson of Utica; Wayne (Mary Jo) Wilson of Eyota; James (Darlene) Wilson of Stewartville and Nancy (Brian) Dotterwick of Elba, 11 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, a brother Joe Wilson of Bloomington and a sister Betty (Irv) Smith of St. Charles. He was preceded in death by 1 brother and four sisters. Funeral Services will be 11 AM Friday at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in St. Charles with the Rev. Michael Hart officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 PM Thursday at Hoff Funeral Home's - St. Charles Chapel. They may also call one hour before services at the church.Military graveside honors will be provided by the St. Charles V.F.W. and American Legion Posts.
