Lewiston, James Matthew "Jim" Ferguson, 83, of rural Lewiston died Saturday evening, July 7th in the comfort of his own home, surrounded by his wife Dona and close friends Dennis and Kim Wirt. Jim was born August 4, 1928 in Fremont to Joseph Daniel and Frieda (Meyers) Ferguson. He served in the United States Army from December 1950 to October of 1952 and was stationed in Korea where he strung communication lines. On July 25, 1953 he and Dona Pappenfuss were married. They farmed in rural Lewiston. Jim also worked at Interstate Power for 20 years and part-time for Benson Farm Service for 20 years. Jim and Dona enjoyed traveling out west on many occasions. He also enjoyed hunting trips to Montana and showing his antique Twin City Tractors. He was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ/ Evangelical Lutheran Church in America of Lewiston, where he had served as Treasurer. He also belonged to the Lewiston American Legion Post, was a Warren Township Supervisor for 20 years and served on the Lewiston Public Cemetery Board for 35 years. Survivors include his wife Dona, cousins and friends. Funeral Services will be 11AM Wednesday at St. Paul's Church in Lewiston with the Reverend Louise Stromberg officiating. Burial will follow in the Lewiston Public Cemetery with graveside military honors presented by the Lewiston American Legion.
