James F. Borkowski, 88, of Winona, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 8, 2016 at Lake Winona Manor after a 4-year journey into Alzheimer's disease.
Jim was born on October 16, 1927 to Leo Sr. and May Borkowski and spent his life in Winona and Goodview. After his WWII Service in Company E, 332nd Engineers Army Division, he married Dana Huntley on September 20, 1949 and built their home in Goodview. Jim was employed by McConnon and Co. and Watkins Products, while also assisting his mother in maintaining the B&B Grocery.
Jim was also a handyman and jack-of-all-trades. He grew gladiolas and soybeans in fields below the bluffs of Goodview. He enjoyed hunting deer, turkeys, ducks and was 85 on his last deer hunting venture. Jim always loved the Winona Valley and its nature.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Ann and brothers, Leo Jr. and John "Jack".
Jim is survived by his wife, Dana; daughters, Linda (Peter) Worner and Kathy (Jerry) Smith; sons, Tom (Billii) and Mike (Donna); 5 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Edward; as well as many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Services to remember Jim will be 4 p.m., Friday, July 15, 2016 at Hoff Celebration of Life Center in Goodview, beginning with Military Honors performed by the VFW Post 1287 followed by a time of remembrance led by Funeral Celebrant, Tyler Hoff. Visitation will follow the service until 7 p.m. Memorials are preferred.
