Utica, James E. Olson, 91, of rural Utica died Saturday, July 6, 2013 at his home. Jim was born June 6, 1922 in Fremont Township to Edward and Edith (Sveningson) Olson, attending Fremont School and later Pine Creek School. He served in the United States Navy during WWII as a Seamen 2nd Class. Jim and Ellen Erickson were married December 14, 1946 in Winona. They farmed in the Fremont area until retiring. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Lewiston, serving as Elder and session member. Jim was involved in the Lewiston Cancer Support Group, served on the Lewiston Creamery Board, belonged to Lewiston American Legion, delivered Meals on Wheels and was a DeKalb seed dealer.He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, bowling, playing cards, working on his farm, most of all being involved in his families lives. Survivors include his wife Ellen, a daughter Mary Sue (David) Kreidermacher of Utica, a son Jim (Beth) Olson of Lewiston, five grandchildren; Kelly (Bob) Brooke, Brad (Cari) Kreidermacher, Todd (Amber) Kreidermacher, Trent (Kristin) Olson and Katie Olson, great-grandchildren; Madison and Coleman Brooke, Jordyn and Hayden Kreidermacher and Riley Huntley, with another great-granddaughter arriving in October. He is also survived by a sister Dorothy Edwards of Utica and a sister-in-law Audrey Olson of Winona. Jim was preceded in death by three sisters, Helen Baer, Gladys Bain and Margaret Baer and a brother Robert Olson. Funeral Services will be 11AM Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church in Lewiston with the Reverend Tim Gerarden officiating. Burial will follow in Fremont Scotch Cemetery with military graveside honors being conducted by the Lewiston American Legion Post. Friends may call from 5-8 PM Tuesday at Hoff Funeral Service in Lewiston. They may also call one hour before services at the church on Wednesday.
