James Denis Kilduff

James "Jay" D. Kilduff, 73, of Lewiston, Minn. died Monday, May 22, 2006 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minn. Jay was born January 22, 1933 in St. Thomas, Minn., to C.J. and Dorothy (Connelly) Kilduff. He enlisted in the Army during the Korean War and served his duty in Germany from 1953 to 1955. He returned home and went to trade school to become a meat cutter and continued being a meat cutter for 30 years. On October 20, 1956 he married Elaine Theede. Together they lived in Montgomery, Minn., St. Thomas, Minn., and Arizona before making their home in Lewiston. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Altura. Jay was an avid fisherman and creative woodworker. He will be remembered for the love he gave his family and friends. Jay is survived by his wife of 49 years, Elaine; three daughters, Kim (Mark) Maker of Lewiston, Minn.; Kelly Kilduff of Lakeville, Minn.; and Sheila Sweeney of Lewiston, Minn., four grandchildren; Alana, Shanna, C.J., and Sydney, one great-grandchild; James; three sisters, Mary Ruth (Donald) Weldon of Belle Plaine, Minn.; Dorothy (Russell) Schindler of Le Center, Minn.; and Margie (Allie) Prochaska of Heidelberg, Minn., two sister-in-laws; Katie Kilduff of Prescott, AZ and Jeanette Kilduff of Vadnais Heights, Minn. He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers; Thomas, O'Brien, and twin brother Ray. The Funeral Mass for Jay will be held on Thursday, May 25 at 2:00 PM at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Altura, Minn. with the Reverend Shawn Haremza officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery at Oak Ridge where the Lewiston American Legion will perform military honors. Friends may call from 12-2 PM of Thursday before the service at the church.
