HOUSTON, MINN. - Ivie W. Popplewell, 77, of Houston died Wednesday, January 15, 2003, at Valley View Nursing Home in Houston. Ivie was born on October 21, 1925, in Ferguson, Missouri to Ivie T. and Bealuh (Conreux) Popplewell. He was a US Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict from which he was awarded a Purple Heart. On December 18, 1954, he married Louise Awbrey. They were later divorced. Since 1976, Ivie had lived in the Houston area. Previous to that he lived in Missouri, Texas, and Nodine, Minn. Ivie was a dairy farmer and worked at Trane Company in Lacrosse, Wis. from 1974 until 1987. His interests included reading Western books, talking about farming, and traveling. Ivie is survived by three sons: Ivie T. (Michele) Popplewell II of Houston, Minn., Steven (Kathy) Popplewell of Caledonia, Minn. and Michael (Elizabeth) Popplewell of Money Creek, Minn.; four daughters: Susan (Steven) Brown of Winona, Minn., Marcella (Tim) Hanyok of Raleigh, NC, Jennifer B. Popplewell of Raleigh, NC and Bea J.(Brian) Roberson of Tyler, TX.; 12 grandchildren: Ivie T. III, Kate, Anne, Louis, Jennifer, Jessica, Steven II, Jose, Kelsey, Alexandria, Jonathon and Taylor; one brother, C.T. (Pat) Popplewell of Sun City West, AZ.; one brother-in-law, James White of Mission TX; special friends: Carrol and Lela Blagsvedt and Janette Moning. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Marcella. The funeral service will be at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, January 20, at Hoff Funeral Homes, Houston Chapel with Celebrant John Wagonaar officiating. There will be military honors by the Arnet Sheldon American Legion Post of Houston. Burial will take place in Texas at a later date. Friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday at Hoff Funeral Homes, Houston Chapel. The family prefers memorials to be directed to the Valley View Nursing Home in Houston.
