Elba, Ivan Ernest Roberts, 54, of Elba died Friday June 10, 2005 at Season's Hospice in Rochester. Ivan was born June 30, 1950 in Elgin to Willis John and Wilhelmina (Kraeger) Roberts. He graduated from Elgin High School in 1968 and served in the Army from 1969 ? 1971, stationed in Korea. Ivan attended Rock Valley College in Cherry Valley, Illinois to study accounting for a year. He later studied carpentry at Rochester Vo-Tech for four years. Ivan and Nancy Mauer were married on May 8, 1976 in Elba. They lived in Plainview for 10 years before moving to Elba to make their home. Ivan worked as a carpenter for Weis Builders of Rochester for 29 years, where he a job superintendent. Ivan enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and caring for his lawn. Most of all he loved to spend time with his grandchildren and go for Sunday tours. He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association, was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church; Carpenters Local Union #1382; Plainview American Legion; Veterans of Foreign Wars in Gilbert, MN; St. Charles Moose Lodge; Pheasants Forever; Minnesota Whitetails Association. He was also the caretaker for the Marnach House near Elba. Survivors include his wife Nancy, two children, Makala Roberts of Rushford and Nicholas (Jennifer) Roberts of St. Charles, grandchildren, Kendra, Tommy, Ethan and a fourth grandchild soon to arrive. He is further survived by a brother, Gerald (Ann) Roberts of Eyota and two sisters, Joan Counter of Bellchester and Elaine (Al) Jacobson of Rochester and many nieces and nephews. His parents, four brothers, Willis, Mike, Kenny and Bob Roberts and two sisters Geraldine and Betty preceded him in death. Their will be a Funeral Mass at 11AM Tuesday at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Elba with the Rev. James Callahan officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 PM Monday and 9-10 AM Tuesday at Hoff Funeral Home's ? St. Charles Chapel. There will be an 8PM Prayer Service on Monday at the funeral home.
