Winona, MNIva Louise Ward, 78, died Saturday, May 29, 2004 at her home in Winona, MN. She had been diagnosed with leukemia. Iva was born September 7, 1925 in Huntsville, AL to Rollie and Vernie Mae (Brown) Stolz. On October 7, 1944 she married Willard Wayne Ward in Huntsville, AL. Iva and her husband made their home in Winona until their retirement when they moved to Spring Hill, FL where they lived for 15 years. They have since returned to Winona and have been living here for the past 3 years. Iva was an excellent cook who enjoyed entertaining family and friends. She was a member of the Winona Country Club and was a duplicate bridge player. Survivors include her husband, Willard "Bill"; five children, Marcia (Alanson Jr.) Hamernik of Winona, MN, Julie (Dale) Charette of Hudson, OH, Willard Wayne (Barbara) Ward II of Eden Prairie, MN, Barbara (Mark) Miller of Maplewood, MN and Elizabeth Ward of Winona, MN; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Jane (Riley) Cooper of New Hope, AL and Sarah Woodis of Huntsville, AL; and one brother, James Stolz of Huntsville, AL. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Barbara and brother, Michael.A Memorial Mass will be offered on Saturday, June 5, 2004 at 11:00am at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Msgr. Roy Literski officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Winona, MN. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
