Isabelle B. Twaites

Winona, MNIsabelle B. Twaites, 92, died Wednesday, February 24, 2010, at Lake Winona Manor in Winona, MN. Isabelle was born April 30, 1917, in Chicago, IL. She graduated from West Waterloo High School in 1936 and attended an all girls Jr. College for two years. A year after the bombing of Pearl Harbor, Isabelle enlisted in the U.S. Army during WWII. Isabelle came to Winona and took over her fathers building and opened a liquor store. It was Isabelle's Liquor Store she operated for 25 years. Isabelle also rented rooms for people who visited Winona from the Hiawatha train, front runner of today's Amtrack.Isabelle was able to maintain her independent living her entire life excluding the past year at Lake Winona Manor.She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Leonard Felcman. Survivors include many close friends.Isabelle celebrated her life with friends, near and far, on her 90th birthday and would like to be remembered as the vibrant and healthy woman she was. Hoff Funeral and Cremation Service Hansen Goodview Chapel assisted the family with final arrangements.
