Irene was born December3, 1933 to Clifford and Alida (Patten) Runkle in Pleasant Valley Township, Mower County. She grew up on the family farm and graduated from Stewartville High School in 1951. Irene and Donald Sinn were married December 8, 1951 in Stewartville. Following their marriage the couple farmed near Racine. In 1958 they moved their family to the farm they purchased in St. Charles. Through the years Irene worked at Camera Art in Lewiston and the Kahler Hotel, in the catering department. She and Don also worked side by side on the farm as she drove tractor and helped with field work.
Irene will be remembered for her loving and caring manner. She enjoyed sewing quilts for her family, gardening, canning, baking and traveling to Montana. Irene and Don enjoyed spending their winters in the south, following retirement. She loved time spent with family, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Irene was an active member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church and its Ladies Aid. She delivered Meals on Wheels for several years and had been a 4H Leader. Many who worked on their farm have fond memories of the fresh berries and ice cream she would serve them.
Survivors include her husband, Don, two children; Linda (Glen) Haas of Thompson Falls, MT and Jerry Sinn of St. Charles, grandchildren, Lindsey (Jeson) Sangaralingham, Jared (Leslie) Haas, Rachel (Rick) Markee, Kristal (Shane) Lange and Cody Sinn, great-grandchildren, Shea, Layla, Paige and Aiden, and her twin brother, Gene Runkle. She was preceded in death by her son Dana, siblings; John, Dick, Laverne, Iva, Pete and Kenneth.
Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, November 21, 2020 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church with the Reverend Samuel Morsching officiating. Burial will follow at Saratoga Cemetery. A visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Friday at Hoff Funeral Service in St. Charles and one hour before services at the church.
