Irene Marie Ellringer Tottingham

St. Charles, Irene M. Ellringer Tottingham, 85, of St. Charles died Friday October 3, 2008 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester. She was born March 15, 1923 in Elba to Edwin and Hildegaard (Grodel) Kieffer. Irene and Earl "Bob" Ellringer were married on March 17, 1942. He died October 3, 1970. In July of 1979 Irene married Orville Tottingham. He died in 1980. Irene worked as a Nursing Assistant for many years at Whitewater Healthcare Center in St. Charles. She was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church. She had a gift and a love for growing flowers. Irene enjoyed watching T'V, reading, going for car rides and watching children play at the elementary school. Survivors include seven children; Judy (Chuck) Nicklay, Francis "Frank" Ellringer of Inver Grove Heights, Jane Spitzer of Rochester, James (Gerry) Ellringer of St. Charles, Joel (Jill) Ellringer, Joan (Tom) St. Martin and Janet (Rick) Whitaker of Rochester, 14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and on great-great-grandchild, three brothers; Marvin (Betty) Kieffer of St. Charles, Edward Kieffer of Elba, Leroy (Judy) Kieffer of St. Charles, two sisters; Elaine (Mort) Stoning of Plainview and Jeanette Kautz of Hammond. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Kathleen and Janice and two brothers, Wayne and David. A Funeral Mass will be 2PM Wednesday at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in St. Charles with the Reverend James F. Callahan officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in St. Charles. Friends may call at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church from 5-8PM Tuesday and 1-2 PM on Wednesday.
