Inez Virginia Loppnow

St. Charles, Inez Virginia (Schafer) Loppnow, 85, of St. Charles died Thursday, July 07, 2011 at Golden Living Center in St. Charles. Inez was born February 25, 1926 in Altura to Herman and Elsie (Bittner) Schafer. Inez and Alton Loppnow were married September 5, 1944 in Elba. The couple farmed north of St. Charles for 33 years before moving in to town. Inez worked several years at the Altura Turkey Plant and Rush Products in Lewiston, as well as restaurant work. The last several years Inez made stuffed toys, quilts and lap robes for local nursing homes. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in St. Charles where she taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School and belonged to the Women's Circle. Inez delivered Meals on Wheels and helped her husband make crosses for children's sermon at church. Alton died September 10, 2009. Survivors include her three children; Leland (Dorean) Loppnow of Dodge Center, Ramona Bamlet of Elba and Ronald (Karen) Loppnow of St. Charles, six grandchildren; Monica Loppnow (Dan Battenfeld), Melissa (Scott) Millner, Megan Loppnow (Eric McPhee), Jesse Bamlet, Chad (Chris) Loppnow and Shawn Loppnow (Mandy Milene); 11 great-grandchildren, Joey, Danny and Hannah Millner, Alex, Zak and Ella McPhee, Logan Gaynor, Sami, Devon, Dylan and Austyn Loppnow; two step great-grandchildren, Brooke and Deja Battenfeld, one step great-great-grandson Jaxon, her siblings Marvin (Jeanette) Schafer of St. Charles and Violet Balk of Winona. She was preceded in death by her husband and five siblings; Roy Schafer, Evelyn Andring, Beatrice McDougall, Beulah Kampa and Orrin Schafer. Funeral Services will be 1:30 PM Tuesday at Faith Lutheran Church with the Reverend Carol Shaffer officiating. Burial will follow in Saratoga Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-8PM Monday at Hoff Funeral and Cremation Service in St. Charles. They may also call one hour before services at the church on Tuesday.
