Ina Lorraine Nordness

RUSHFORD, MINN. - Ina Lorraine Nordness, 83, of Rushford died on Sunday, May 27, 2007, at Winona Community Memorial Hospital. Ina was born on July 5, 1923, in Fillmore County, Minnesota to Lars and Ida (Haakenson) Olson. She was baptized at South Fork Lutheran Church and confirmed by Rev. Otterstad at Rushford Lutheran Church. Ina was educated at Chisholm Country School in rural Houston, Minn., and at Rushford High School. She worked for several families in the Houston area, as a secretary to the Superintendent of Rushford School, office manager at Tri-County Coop Oil Association for over 29 years, and then worked for over 14 years at Cencom, Inc. in Rushford as a payroll accountant until her retirement in 1987. Ina married Hubert Nordness on August 14, 1943, at Rushford Lutheran Parsonage. On January 10, 1963, they were blessed with the birth of their daughter Darlene Kay. On April 11, 1970, Hubert passed away from cancer. Ina had a very strong faith. She was very active with her church. She served as an officer of Rushford Lutheran Church Council, by being the first woman to hold the office of Council President. She served eleven years as Treasurer of the Board of Trustees of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home. She was a former member of Winona's Sons of Norway. Ina is survived by one daughter, Darlene (Scott) Searcey and her children: Ronald Lantz Jr. and Cara Lantz of Wymore, Nebraska; one brother, Jerry T. (Peggy) Olson of LaCrescent, Minn.; and many nieces and nephews. The funeral service for Ina is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 31, at Rushford Lutheran Church with the Rev Roger Michaelson and the Rev. Scot McVey McCluskey co-officiating. The visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Hoff Funeral Homes - Rushford Chapel and one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church. Burial will be in the Rushford Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
