Illa Mae Sogla, 86, of Pigeon Falls, WI, formerly from Chatfield, MN, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 18, 2010, at Gundersen Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse, WI. Illa was born May 5, 1923, in Danbury, WI, to Clyde and Esther (Grace) Dailey. At the age of 5, Illa's mother passed away. Later, her father re-married Myrtle Andermann and they lived in the Hinckley, MN, area. When she was a teenager they moved to Fillmore County, MN. She attended school in Chatfield and graduated from Peterson High School. On August 28, 1943, she married Joseph Sogla from Utica, MN, who at the time was a hired farm hand for area farmers. They celebrated more than 45 years of marriage. Mae and Joe farmed in the Pilot Mound, MN, area until 1968 and then moved to Northfield, WI, to a larger dairy farm. In 1976, they moved to Pigeon Falls, WI. Mae worked as a certified nurse's aide for 15 years in the Pigeon Falls area. She enjoyed all her grandchildren and great grandchildren, reading, crocheting, knitting, and most of all; Mae will always be remembered for all the many quilts she made, not only for her children and grandchildren, but for all her church's functions at Upper Pigeon Creek Lutheran Church near Northfield, WI.Survivors include a daughter, Karen (Gary) Sharp of Perrysburg, OH; four sons, Clyde (Judy) Sogla of Chatfield, MN, Milford (Lorrie) Sogla of Northglenn, CO, Elmer (Brenda) Sogla of Alma Center, WI, and Paul Sogla of Eau Claire, WI; 14 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; 3 step grandchildren; 5 step great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Lilah Bergerson, grandson, Thomas Sogla, sister, Jane Andermann and brother, William Dailey.A memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 22nd, at Noon at Upper Pigeon Creek Lutheran Church near Northfield, WI, with the Reverend David A. Christianson officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Graveside services will be held at 5pm at North Prairie Lutheran Cemetery in rural Lanesboro, MN.
