Rochester, Ignatius John Klug, 88, of Sunrise Cottages, Rochester and formerly of Lewiston died Monday March 10, 2008 at Sunrise Cottages. Ignatius was born August 28, 1919 in Caledonia to Peter and Barbara (Binner) Klug. He served in the US Army. In 1949 he married Ruth Ellen Spahr at Ortonville, MN. The couple lived in Wykoff and Caledonia before making their home in Lewiston in 1952. He was employed at Lewiston Auto, assembling and delivering farm machinery. Ignatius also worked for Winona Sand and Gravel and Biesanz Sand and Gravel. He later became a construction worker and heavy equipment operator, and was a member of the Local 49 Union. Upon retirement he was employed as a custodian at Enterprise Rest Area. He enjoyed spending time in his shop tinkering. Ignatius was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Lewiston. Survivors include his wife Ruth Ellen, a daughter Ann (Terry) Schwanke of Rochester, five sons; Charles (Susan) of Eagan, Randy (Frances) of Cedar Falls, IA, Kenneth (Susan) of Lewiston, Daniel (Susan) of Zimmerman, MN and William (Sandy) of Brentwood, CA, sixteen grandchildren; Tina & Terra Schwanke, Daniel (Kelly) Klug, Weston Klug, Randy C. (Erin) Klug, Jessica (Pat) Dennis, Casey Klug, Abby Klug, Christopher Klug, Ashlee (Joe) Meyer, Lindsay Klug, Anne Larson, Jessica Larson and Erik, Keith and Tyler Klug, six great-grandchildren; Chaz, Zachary and Chance Sohns, Alexis and Landon Klug, Kai Klug and Mason Meyer, fours sisters; Alvira and Winnifred Klockeman of Fountain, Rose Town of Ely, and Everilda Klug of Harmony and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by six brothers; Richard, Eugene, Donald, Harold, Omar and Marcel and two sisters. A Funeral Mass will be 11AM Thursday at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Lewiston with the Reverends Thomas Loomis and Marreddy Pothireddy officiating. Spring burial will be in St. Rose of Lima Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-8 PM Wednesday at Hoff Funeral & Cremation Service of Lewiston. They may also call one hour before services at the church on Thursday. There will be a Rosary said at 7:30 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
