Christopher Ian Young, 72, of Houston, MN died at his home surrounded by his family on April 12, 2018. Ian was born February 12, 1946 to Robert and Kathleen Young in Birmingham, England. He grew up south of London and after completing high school he attended tech school. He came to Rushford, MN to visit family and moved there a year and a half later in 1980 after Sass Implement offered him a job and helped him get his work visa. Not long after in May of 1980 he met Donna Cornwell at the American Legion. The two dated for a short while before getting married on September 23, 1980 in Nodine, MN. Together they raised two children, Nottie and Chris. Ian also worked at Lurch Implement and Midland Co Op before getting his CDL and working most his years for Lawrence Transportation. Ian enjoyed reading, automobile racing, garden tractor pulls and especially spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Donna; children, Nottie (Dusty) Luedtke, Chris (Jessica) Young; grandchildren, Dustin, Joey, Austin, Toni, Madyson, Torrie, Kaden and Paige; sisters-in-law, Sharon (Leonard) Buege, Darlene Wolter, Karen Cornwell; his good trucking buddy, Rod Lawman; goddaughter, Allyson Wolter. Ian is preceded in death by his parents; parents-in-law, Laverne and Arlene Cornwell; brothers-in-law, Sonny and Lawrence; nephews, Justin and Butch. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, April 21 with visitation starting at 11 a.m. at Hoff Funeral and Cremation Service, Houston.
