Homer C. Stelplugh, 96, of Houston died Tuesday, January 25, 2005, at Valley View Nursing Home in Houston. He was born on June 29, 1908, in Alden, Minn. to Fred and Mary (Webster) Stelplugh. Homer moved with his family when he was a small child to Houston, Minn. He grew up in rural Houston. On January 2, 1933 he married Florence Manion in Money Creek, Minn. She died in 1976. Homer married Florence Teeple on May 20, 1978. She died in 1996. He farmed for all of his career in the Houston area. Homer was a member of the Looney Valley Lutheran Church where he had been an usher, the Lower Looney Valley School Board, Farm Bureau and had been the Houston Township Clerk. He is survived by one son: Robert (Jean) Stelplugh of Houston; two daughters: Faye Owens and Shirley (Francis) VanGundy, both of Houston; eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Besides being preceded in death by his first and second wife, he was also preceded in death by five sisters and two brothers. The funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 29, at the Looney Valley Lutheran Church in rural Houston with the Rev. Jeff Forbes officiating. Burial will be in the Silver Creek Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday at Hoff Funeral Homes - Houston Chapel and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. The family prefers memorials to be directed to the Looney Valley Lutheran Church New Addition Fund or to Valley View Nursing Home.
