Lewiston, Hilbert Charles "Hub" Rupprecht, 93, of Lewiston died Sunday morning December 18, 2011 at the Lewiston Villa. He was born May 25, 1918 to Ben and Lucy (Luehmann) Rupprecht on a farm in Utica Township near Lewiston, where he was also raised. Hilbert attended St. John's Evangelical Lutheran School from first through eighth grade. On June 14, 1941 Hilbert and Virginia Kahring were married at St. John's Lutheran Church. Soon after their wedding he was drafted in to the U.S. Army. Following his service in the Army the couple farmed west of Lewiston until his retirement in 1980. Following his retirement he continued to help on the farm well in to his 80's. Throughout his life Hilbert enjoyed travel, playing cards (especially Sheep), working jig-saw puzzles, doing latch hook. Most of all he liked to spend time with his family. Of most importance was his faith. Hilbert was confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Lewiston, where he was a lifelong member and had served on many boards. Surviving him are his wife of 70 years, Virginia, a son David (Kathy) Rupprecht of Lewiston, a daughter, Nancy (Bob) Baird of Merritt Island, FL, grandchildren; Tammy (Glen) Haag of Lewiston, Chad (Angie) Rupprecht of Pennsylvania, Roxanne Baird of California and Dan Baird of Florida, great-grandchildren, Morgan, Leanna, Carter, Connor, Ethan and Cassie Haag, a brother Roger (Pat) Rupprecht of Westport, OR, a sister Mabel Braun of Winona, a sister-in-law Mareta Rupprecht of St. Charles and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death are two brothers Elmer and Kenneth and a brother-in-law Nick Braun. Funeral Services will be 11AM Thursday at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in Lewiston with the Reverends Michael A. Lindemann and M. John Dermé officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
