Henry G. "Hank" Neumann, 88 of rural Rollingstone died Monday October 6, 2008 at his home following a lengthy illness. Hank was born January 12, 1920 on the family farm in Norton Township of Winona County to Henry and Anna (Drenckhahn) Neumann. He lost his dad at a young age and began farming with his mother. On November 27, 1947 he married Alice Van Riper. The farm was Hank's life, livelihood and enjoyment. He enjoyed milking cows, carpentry work and working with the soil. He had received an award for a 150 year family farm. Hank often said, "I want to live like I'm going to die tomorrow. But, I want to farm like I'm going to live forever." Hank was a member of Jehovah Evangelical Lutheran Church in Altura, had served on church council and was involved in church activities. He had received the outstanding service award from Winona County Soil and Water Conservation, served on the Elba Creamery Board for 22 years, belonged to Winona County Pork Producers and was an active member of the horse pullers group, member of Altura Lions Club. Survivors include his wife Alice, three children; Jack (Sandy) Neumann of Bethany, Roxann Anderson of Bethany and Kimberly (Kim) Pronschinske of Rollingstone, six grandchildren; Derek (Annie) Neumann, Scott Anderson, Annabelle, Clayton, Adrenna and Gage Pronschinske, two great-grandchildren; Emma and Jonathan Henry Neumann. He was preceded in death by two sons, Henry Dan and Clayton Scott, three sisters; Dora, Helen and Anabelle, one brother Fred and his parents.
