HOUSTONHelen Joyce Houge, 92 of Houston, died Friday, April 11, 2014 at home surrounded by her family.Helen was born November 14, 1921 in Lake Benton, Minn. to Edwin Harold and Georgia Alvena (Johnson) Wilcox. She studied at the University of Minnesota's School of Nursing and graduated in 1945. Helen was a registered nurse at La Crosse Lutheran Hospital, a nursing instructor at Western Wisconsin Technical Institute, and later the Director of Nursing at Valley View Nursing Home in Houston. On April 6, 1946, she married Arthur "Artie" Houge. Together, they raised three daughters and one son. She was a woman of faith and an active member of Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Houston. Helen is survived by her children, Linda Houge, Marna (Randolph) Zoerb, Jane (Dan) Peckskamp, and David (Pam) Houge; grandchildren, Tristan Zoerb, Emily (Dustin) Semo, Arthur "Artie" Peckskamp, Myah Houge, Ilse Zoerb, Brennen Houge, and Ann "Annie" Peckskamp; step-grandchildren, Patty (Tim) Kimberley, Mary (Kevin) Oswalt, and Peter (Maryssa) Peckskamp; sisters, Margery Hanson, Shirley Lee, Marion Liendecker, and Patricia Wahl; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 43 years, Artie Houge, who died April 7, 1989; sisters, Jean Graves and Ruth Summers; and brothers, Robert and Paul Wilcox.Visitation will be held from 4-7pm Friday, April 18, 2014 at Hoff Funeral & Cremation Service in Houston. Funeral service will be 11am on Saturday at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church with visitation one hour prior. Reverend Lane Zaffke will officiate.
