Lewiston, MNHarold Francis Micheel, 97, died Tuesday, April 10, 2007, at Winona Community Memorial Hospital in Winona, MN. Harold was born November 15, 1909 near Rollingstone, MN to Robert and Martha (McLaughlin) Micheel. He married Mildred Schnaffner on June 12, 1939 in Winona, MN. Harold owned and operated the IGA in Lewiston until 1947. He then became a salesman for a few different companies in Lewiston. Harold retired from Lewiston Auto where he was a bookkeeper in 1983. Harold was an active community member in Lewiston and was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and sang in the choir since he was 10 years old, over 50 year member of the Knights of Columbus, served on the Community Education Committee, Charter Member (since 1926) of the Lewiston Sportsman's Club, 35 year retired member of the Lewiston Fire Department, caretaker for St. Rose of Lima Cemetery for 45 years, member of the Winona County Historical Society, member of the Old Settlers Association, served on the Lewiston Development Association, President of Senior Citizens for 15 years, Voluntary Driver for Senior Citizens for 20 years and Fire Arms Training Instructor for 43 years. Harold also enjoyed hunting and fishing, painting, photography and traveling.He is survived by his wife, Mildred; son, John (Shirley) Micheel of Lewiston, MN; daughter, Barbara (Michael) Newsham of Vancouver, WA; 5 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson.A Funeral Mass will be offered on Saturday, April 14, 2007, at 11:00am at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church with the Rev. Marreddy Pothireddy officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at Hoff Funeral Homes - Lewiston Chapel on Friday from 5-8:00pm where there will be a Christian Prayer Service at 7:30pm.
