Harold Elmer Wadewitz

Stockton, Harold E. Wadewitz, 75, of Stockton died Thursday October 2, 2008 at Winona Community Memorial Hospital. Harold was born September 15, 1933 on the family farm in Stockton. He served in the Army for two years during the Korean Conflict. Harold married Joan Luehmann on June 30, 1957 at Immanuel Lutheran Church at Silo. They made their home in Lewiston where Harold hauled milk as an owner operator for 10 years. He then worked for the City of Lewiston as City Superintendent for 28 years. Following retirement he and Joan returned to live on the family farm in Stockton. Harold was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Lewiston and served as usher and greeter. He had also been a member of Lewiston Lions, Lewiston American Legion, Jaycees, served on the Lewiston Volunteer Department for 28 years and was a member and past-president of the Minnesota Wastewater Operators. He and Joan loved to travel, most especially to their home in Florida. He also enjoyed gardening, farming and camping. Harold is survived by his wife Joan, four children; Mike (Linda) Wadewitz of Winona, Dave of Chatfield, Sara (Daryl) Oevering of Stockton and Paula Wadewitz (Steve Prigge) of Rochester, nine grandchildren; Ryan (Kim) Wadewitz, Bret (Katey) Wadewitz, Leah (Corey) Dufault, Rachel Oevering, Ross and Andy Wadewitz, Nick Oevering, Katelyn and Jordon Wadewitz, four great-grandchildren; Rakiya Oevering, Mason, Autumn and Cora Wadewitz, three brothers; Robert (Lois) Wadewitz, Roy (Rosie) Wadewitz and Jim Wadewitz all of Winona, four sisters, Marion Farner of Cochrane, WI, Linda (Dave) Bronk of Dodge, WI,, Bonnie (Kenny) Bartsch of Houston and Lois (Rodger) Matzke of Rollingstone and a sister-in-law Carol Wadewitz of Winona. He was preceded in death by a sister Adeline Kreckow and two brothers Irvin and Paul Wadewitz. Funeral Services will be 11AM Tuesday at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church in Lewiston with the Reverends David A. Fischer and Michael A. Lindemann officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
