Harold Conrad Boysen

Harold Conrad Boysen, 84, died Monday, August 15, 2005, at Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester, MN. Harold was born October 6, 1920, in Canisteo Township, Dodge County, MN, to Peter and Alma (Gunneson) Boysen. Harold served in the U.S. Navy during WWII as an Aircraft Mechanic in the South Pacific. He married Bernice Theiss in Kasson, MN. Harold worked for the Minnesota Department of Transportation on highway maintenance and lived in southeastern Minnesota. Harold retired in 1981 and moved to Nevis and Park Rapids, MN. He and his wife, Bernice, would winter in Chandler, AZ. Bernice died in 2000, and Harold moved back to the St. Charles area to be near his children. Harold was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in St. Charles and former member of the First English Lutheran Church in Dorset, MN. He was also a 52 year member of the American Legion, most recently at the Otto Hendrickson Post 212 in Park Rapids, and a member of the VFW Post 5630 in St. Charles, MN. Harold enjoyed fishing, gardening, and watching the Minnesota Twins and Vikings. Survivors include his three daughters, Bonnie (Ken) Zitzow, Carol (John) Bedtke, and Penny (Harry) Zeitler, all of Dover, MN; and six granddaughters. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Bernice; three sisters, Elvena, Elvira and Viva; and two brothers, Earl and Rudy. Funeral services are planned for Thursday, August 18, 2005, at 11:00am at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in St. Charles, MN, with the Rev. Michael Hart officiating. Friends may call at Hoff Funeral Homes ? St. Charles Chapel on Wednesday from 6-8:00pm and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Park Rapids, MN, where there will be a graveside service at 2:00pm Friday, August 19, 2005. Pallbearers will be Harold's six granddaughters, Jessica and Ann Bedtke, Amber and Kirstie Zitzow, Katelyn and Lindsey Zeitler.
