Harold Bedtka

Harold Bedtka, 87, of rural Dover died Saturday November 12, 2006 at Whitewater Healthcare Center in St. Charles. Harold was born July 2, 1919 in Quincy Township of Olmsted County to Julius and Norma (Holdredge) Bedtka. He served in the Army during WWII, stationed in the European theatre where he drove supply truck for the Red Ball and was involved in the Battle of the Bulge and the aftermath of D-Day. He and Marion Boettcher were married on September 21, 1946 in Pickwick. They farmed their entire married lives in Quincy Township. He entered Whitewater Healthcare Center earlier this year. His wife Marion died June 13, 2006. Harold had a great love for horses. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Plainview and was a 62 year member of the St. Charles American Legion and Veterans of Foreign War Posts. Survivors include two sons, Keith and Dale (Sue) Bedtka, both of Dover, three grandchildren, Leah, Marsha and Alan, and two sisters, Marion Deedrick of Rochester and Mareta Rupprecht of St. Charles. In addition to his wife Marion Harold was preceded in death by two brothers, Paul and Don. Funeral Services will be 11AM Wednesday at Hoff Funeral Home's ? St. Charles Chapel. Friends may call from 4-8 PM Tuesday and 10-11 AM Wednesday at Hoff Funeral Home's- St. Charles Chapel. Burial will follow services at Hillside Cemetery in St. Charles.
