Harold Lloyd Abernathy, 81, of rural Dover died Tuesday October 7, 2008 at Golden Living Center - Whitewater in St. Charles. Harold was born July 6, 1927 in Aberdeen, South Dakota to William and Mary (Wilson) Abernathy. He was the youngest of four siblings. In 1948 he moved with his family to Viola Township in Olmsted County. Harold and Mary Gail Edna Thoma were married on October 29, 1950. The couple farmed near Eyota until moving to Dover to farm in 1967. He was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Eyota. Harold loved his family and enjoyed farming, custom combining & baling, reading, going for coffee at Del's Café, rides in the country and visits with his friends at Golden Living Center. Survivors include his wife Mary Gail, four children; Connie Abernathy-Ness of Hayfield, Harold "Hal" Abernathy, Jr. of Minneapolis, Jerry (Jill) Abernathy of Dover and Jayne (Mark) Whiteside of Peyton, CO and six grandchildren; Jessica, Joe, Katrina, Justin, Seth and Elyse. He was preceded in death by a grandson Adam, born premature, and two brothers and a sister. Funeral Services will be 2PM Saturday, October 18, 2008 at Hoff Funeral Home in St. Charles with the Reverend David Laechel officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Dover.
