Harley A. Thompson, 86, of Rushford, died April 25, 2012 at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Rushford. Harley Arthur Thompson was born June 8, 1925 in rural Fillmore County, MN, son of Arthur Gerhard Thompson and Alpha Ovedia (Hongerholt) Thompson. He grew up in the Rushford/Lenora area and was baptized at Highland Prairie Lutheran Church in rural Rushford. On November 19, 1955 he was united in marriage to Edith Marie Guenther at the parsonage of St. John's Christ Lutheran Church in Arcadia, WI. They farmed for 30 years on Gilmore Ridge (rural Winona) before retiring to a small farm in Yucatan Township. He was a retired farmer and farrier.Harley is survived by his wife, Edith; daughter, Lora Sturm (Rick Thorn) of Faribault; sonArthur H. Thompson of Winona, MN; grandchildren Linda Sturm, Matthew (Rebecca) Thorn,Christina (Troy) Trynowski; Alexander Thompson; 6 great grandchildren; sisters, Ione Paulson and Marilyn Bellock; brother, Dale (Geraldine) Thompson; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother in law, Berton Paulson. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, April 29th, at 2:00pm, at Hoff Funeral and Cremation Service Rushford Chapel with the Reverend Lora Sturm officiating. Burial will be in the Hongerholt Cemetery in rural Rushford, MN. Visitation will be held on Saturday at the funeral home in Rushford from 4-8:00pm and also one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Sunday.
