McCready, 61, of St. Charles, died Saturday, December 20, 2003, at the Whitewater Health Care Center in St. Charles. He was born on June 4, 1942, in Winona, Minn. to Daniel and Evelyn (Rislow) McCready. Harald was raised in St. Charles and graduated from St. Charles High School in 1960. He attended Rochester Community Collage and Mankato State University. On July 18, 1964, Harald married Paulette Vorwerk at the St. Johns Lutheran Church in New Ulm, Minn. Harald worked for Wolter Lumber Yard in St. Charles from 1964 to 1986. And owned and operated H and P Mercantile from 1986 until 2002. He was a member of the Faith Lutheran Church in St. Charles and the St. Charles Moose Lodge. Harald was the Mayor of St. Charles for 7 and a half years during the 1970's and was a school bus driver in St. Charles. His interests included golfing, bowling, collecting farm toys, and following high school athletics. He is survived by his wife, Paulette; mother, Evelyn McCready of St. Charles; one son, Scott (Ann) McCready of St. Charles, one daughter, Marcia (Tim) Schultz of Plainview, Minn. four grandchildren, Megan, Derek, Abigail, and Bradley; one brother, Ray (Louise) McCready of Stewartville, Minn. Harald was preceded in death by his father and one son who died in infancy. The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 23, 2003 at the Faith Lutheran Church in St. Charles with the Rev. Dr. Mark Wilms officiating. Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery in St. Charles. Friends may call from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Monday at Hoff Funeral Homes ? St. Charles Chapel and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church. The family prefers memorials to be directed to the St. Charles Track Fund.
