Greta Eileen Ploetz, 71, of Callista Court in Winona and formerly of rural Utica died Monday December 26th at Callista Court.Greta was born July 16, 1940 in Wabasha to James H. and Donna Eileen (Hass) Shea. She was raised on a farm near Elgin and worked in sterile supply at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester. Greta married Francis Ploetz on November 28, 1958 at St. Joachim Catholic Church in Plainview. They made their home in rural Utica where Greta was a homemaker and helped Francis on the farm. She was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church and its St. Rita's Unit. Greta enjoyed ceramics, and riding snowmobiles and motorcycles. They moved to Callista Court in 2010. She is survived by her husband Francis, three sons; Maurice (Judy) Ploetz of St. Charles, Scott Ploetz of Winona and Jeff (Stacey) Ploetz of Pickwick, seven grandchildren; Josh, Jason, Mitchell, Stephanie, Aaron, Mike & Matt, step granddaughters, Jamie and Richelle, a great grandson Oliver, step great-grandchildren; Tre, Jada, Savanah, Konnor and Kamron, two sisters, Marjorie (Charles) Kingsley of St. Charles and Jeanine (Richard) Jostock of Lake City and a brother Maurice (Ruth) Shea of St. Charles. She was preceded in death by her parents. A Funeral Mass for Greta will be 11AM Saturday at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church with the Reverend Marreddy Pothireddy officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in St. Charles from 4-8PM Friday and 10-11AM Saturday.
