Gordon Vick

Gordon Roger "Gordie" Vick, 72, of Lewiston died Tuesday, December 23, 2008 at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in LaCrosse. He was born August 22, 1936 in Decorah to Oscar and Alida (Hovey) Vick. He graduated from 8th grade at Madison Country School near Decorah. Gordie and Gloria Barth were married on November 3, 1956 in Decorah. The couple farmed at Decorah until 1977 when they purchased the Lewiston Sales Barn and moved to Lewiston. They have owned and operated Lewiston Sales Barn since. In Decorah Gordie served as president of the Winneshiek County Farm Bureau, served on the IPLA Livestock Board and as president of the Decorah Lutheran Church Board. In Lewiston he served as Immanuel Lutheran Church -Silo as Elder and Board President. He was currently president of the Lewiston Chamber of Commerce and served on the City Council. He had also served on the 4-H Livestock council, as Vice president for the local chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans and the Winona Agri-business committee of Winona Chamber of Commerce. Gordie gave of himself and was always there to help others. Survivors include his wife Gloria, five children; Mark (Vicki) of Decorah, IA, Cindy (John) Reynolds of Dodgeville, WI, Kristi (Dean) Reps of Utica, Roxanne (Ben) Pasche of Rollingstone, and Brian (Charla) Vick of Lewiston, a son-in-law Lee Allen Hackman of Decorah, IA, grandchildren; Jennifer (Jason) Kleppe, Jill (Brock) Helgerson, Jackie Hackman, Melissa (Rusty) Vick-Smith, Michelle (Josh) Giddings, Marcie (Austin) Dodd, Megan (Tony) Buls, Jason (Angie) Capouch, Chastity (Nate) Casey, Joni (Matt) Scott, Todd Reps, Twyla (Ozzie) Peshon, Chad (Billie) Tweten, Carey (Emily) Tweten, Michael Reps, Marty Reps, Nick Reps, Nate Reps, Carman (Andrew) Mueller, Joshua, Mitchell, Sarah, Alex and Nicole Pasche, Kayla, Janelle, Zach and Grant Vick, great-grandchildren; Cole & Chase Kleppe, Samantha & Austyn Capouch, Trinity, Ozzie Jr., Olivia & Triton Peshon and Alyssa & Emma Mueller, Miles and Emerson Tweten, Ian Giddings, Jerikah Dodd, Isabel Mueller, Charolette Casey and Josie Helgerson. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Wanda Hackman, a great-granddaughter Emma Vick Smith, a brother Marvin and his parents. Funeral Services will be 1:30 PM Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church - Silo in rural Lewiston with The Reverend William Meilner officiating. Burial will be at Union Prairie Cemetery near Decorah in the spring. Friends may call at the church from 4-8PM Friday and one hour before services Saturday.
