HOUSTON, MINN. Gordon Arnold Kidd, 88, died Friday, July 22, 2005 at Valley View Nursing Home in Houston. Gordon was born January 7, 1917 in Gillingham, WI to Van Otis and Blanche (Long) Kidd. Gordon married Marguerite Briggs on November 6, 1938. He was a life-long cheese maker at various cheese factories in Southwestern Wisconsin and Houston, MN from 1931 until his retirement in 1982. He enjoyed shooting pool, playing cards, fishing, riding his bicycle and walking. He was a lifetime member of the Presbyterian Church in Houston; and currently a member of the Presbyterian Church in Rushford, MN. He was a life-long fan of the Green Bay Packers. Gordon is survived by his wife Marguerite, two daughters; Susan Carrier, Houston, MN and Becky (Tim) Runningen, Hokah, MN; and four sons; Jeff (Pauline) Kidd, Montello, WI, Charles Otis (Royce) Kidd, Cedar Rapids, IA, Gordon (Joyce) Kidd, Middleton, WI, Bill (Darlene) Kidd, Pardeeville, WI. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters; Betty (Sam) Anderson, Readstown, WI, Emma Jane Thorpe, College Station, TX; and one sister-in-law Mary Jane Carlson, Maple Grove, MN; and several nieces and nephews. Gordon was preceded in death by his parents Otis and Blanche, one brother Richard, three sisters; Goldie Berg, Erma Schwitzer, and June Roth; one infant daughter Kathryn; one grandson Rick Koschkee, and one great grandson Troy Thompson. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 25, 2005 at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Houston, MN. The Rev. Susan Li will be the officiant. Visitation will be on Sunday, July 24, 2005 from 5-8 p.m. at the Hoff Funeral Homes- Houston Chapel and one hour before the service at the church. Burial will be in the Money Creek Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Valley View Nursing Home, the American Cancer Society, and the American Diabetes Association. Friends and relatives may leave a memory at hofffuneralhomes.com.
