Gordon A. Bakkum

Gordon A. Bakkum, 64, of St. Charles died Tuesday October 17, 2006 at Lake Winona Manor in Winona, MN. He was born March 22, 1942 in Rushford to Alfred and Gertie (Lysgaard) Bakkum. He lived with his family in Greenleafton and Carimona for a short time and in Preston for nine years. He then moved with his family to Yucatan Ridge near Rushford in 1953. Gordon graduated from Rushford High School in 1960. He married Darlene Fitz on June 11, 1966 in Wayzata, MN. They lived in Minneapolis for 32 years where Gordon worked as a janitor and managed apartments. Darlene died May 12, 1997. He moved to Wadena, MN in 1998 and to St. Charles in June of 2003. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in St. Charles. Survivors include his mother Gertie Bakkum of Rushford, MN, a brother Kenneth (Catherine) Bakkum of Rushford, MN and two sisters Alice (Roger) Boyum of Peterson, MN, and Marie (Glenn) Ingalls of Rochester, MN, and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, his father and a brother, Arthur. Funeral Services will be 10AM Saturday at Faith Lutheran Church in St. Charles with the Rev. Ron Warnes officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery at Jordan, MN. Friends may call one hour before services at the church. Hoff Funeral Home's- St. Charles Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
