Goldie Irene Jones, 85, of Eyota died Saturday June 24th at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester. Goldie was born July 19, 1920 in Olmsted County to Harvey and May (Busher) Herrick. She and Melvin Jones were married on June 9, 1946 in Rochester. They lived in Eyota all of their married lives and operated Jones Firestone Store. For 26 years she worked at the Minnesota State Hospital in Rochester until it closed. Following retirement Goldie was active in many volunteer services among which are American Cancer Society, Sherriff's Triad, national life time member and Past-President of the Eyota American Legion Auxiliary, Eyota Lioness, Order of the Eastern Star, Eyota Area Business Association, Elementary Reading Program and the Olmsted Community Hospital Auxiliary. Goldie was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Eyota. She is survived by three children, Pamela (Robert) Littlefield of St. Charles; Russell (Helen) Jones and Stanley (Rachel) Jones both of Eyota, 13 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and a brother Leo D. "Bud" Herrick of Tuscon, AZ. She was preceded in death by her husband July 4, 1987. One sister Violet and a brother Louis have also died. Funeral Services will be 2 PM Thursday at Faith United Methodist Church in Eyota with the Rev. Mark Woodward officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery in rural Eyota.
