Glen F. Schumacher, 89, of Altura died Tuesday evening, September 22, 2020 at Winona Health. Glen was born February 26, 1931 in Norton Township, Winona County to Lloyd and Alice (Hilke) Schumacher. He grew up in rural Rollingstone and graduated from Lewiston School in 1948. Glen met Helen Rogers while working at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester. They married on May 15, 1950 at New Richmond, WI and made their home in rural Altura. Glen Following his job at St. Mary's, Glen went on to work in delivery for Wonder Bread, Gold Medal and 7UP. In 1968 Glen began working for Dixie Narco selling beverage vending machines. Glen had a great rapport with his customers enjoyed the business travel he and Helen we are part of. Glen and Helen also owned and operated Schumacher Transport for many years. In 1991 Glen retired to spend time with his family. His great joy was his classic cars and attending car shows. Glen's favorite cars were his retractable roof 59 Ford Skyliner, 1955 T Bird, 1968 Mustang Convertible and his 1955 yellow Cadillac. He loved washing and driving them all. Glen was a good grandpa. He and Helen celebrated "70 years of amazement" at their anniversary this May.
He was an active member of Our Savior Moravian Church in Altura.
Survivors include his wife Helen, their two children, John of Hudson, WI and Mary (Marko) Olson of Altura, three grandchildren; Andrew (Kim) Olson, Adam (Emily) Olson and Alexis Olson (Josh Atkinson), great-grandchildren; Mallory, Gavin, Amelia, Sophia, Olivia and Wesley Olson and a sister Dixie Maus of Rollingstone. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Jean, two brothers, Ray and Gene and a sister, Kathleen Ressie.
Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, September 26, 2020 at Our Savior Moravian Church in Altura, with Pastor Greg Behrend officiating. Burial will follow services in Hebron Moravian Cemetery. A visitation will at Our Savior Moravian Church from 4-7 p.m. Friday and 10 - 11 a.m. Saturday. In accordance with current restrictions, face masks and social distancing are required.
