Gladys Luhmann

Gladys Muriel Luhmann, 94 of Winona, passed away on August 4, 2020 at Lake Winona Manor. She was born at home on November 15, 1925 in rural Lewiston, Minnesota to Benjamin and Amanda (Ties) Luhmann. She was 4th in a family of seven children. She grew up on a farm on the Mecklenburg (German) Ridge and Stockton MN. She attended St. John's Lutheran School at Lewiston, graduated from Winona Senior High and continued with Nurse's Aid studies.
Out of High School, Gladie went to work at Winona Hospital as a Nurse's Aid and later to J. R. Watkins Co. Then she went to the Twin Cities and worked as an elevator operator and a proof reader of legal documents at Northwestern Publishing Co. Yearning to return to the Winona area, she worked at Randall's, from where she retired in 1983. Following that, she spent many years of dedicated, loving care of her mother and paternal aunt, Irene (Luehmann) Lance Kuehn.
She was a godmother for several nieces and nephews and enjoyed the Twins Baseball games and photography with her old Kodak Box Camera.
Gladys was a kind, loving person and will be remembered for her spiritual devotion and love for her Church, Grace Ev. Lutheran Church, LCMS, Stockton, MN. We look forward to seeing Gladys again at the Resurrection.
She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Ralph (Leota) Luhmann, Everett (Doris) Luhmann, Marjorie (Frank) Cizek, Iris (Laurel) Hanson and brother-in-law, Bernard Mullen. She is survived by two sisters, Audrey (Ron) Helstad and Phyllis Mullen, and nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank family members, Grace Congregation, the staff at Lake Winona Manor and Winona Health for the compassionate care they gave her.
Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, August 13, 2020 with a visitation at 10 a.m., at Grace Ev. Lutheran Church in Stockton with the Pastor Rev. Mark R. Meier, Sr. officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her aunt and uncle at Woodlawn Cemetery, Winona. Please wear a mask and follow social distancing guidelines. Memorials may be directed to Grace Ev. Lutheran Church or to the donor's choice. Cards may be mailed to Hoff Celebration of Life Center, 3480 Service Drive, Goodview, MN 55987.
