Gladen Sanden, 89, of Houston died Thursday, February 24, 2011 at Franciscan Skemp Medical Center in LaCrosse. Gladen was born March 23, 1921 in Houston to Thor and Amanda (Gustafson) Sanden. He and Floreen Kuecker were married March 4, 1944. Gladen served in the U.S. Navy during WWII, and was stationed in the Philippines. Following the war Gladen and Floreen farmed in Crystal Valley. He also worked 33 years for Trane Co. of LaCrosse as supervisor of the paint department. He was an active member of Cross of Christ Lutheran Church in Houston, serving on church council, as president and teaching Sunday school. The couple enjoyed square dancing as members of the Valley Twirlers. Gladen had also served on the Mound Prairie Township Board. Survivors include his wife Floreen, four children; Diane Botcher (Jerry Doll) of Dakota, Vicki Hoover of Peosta, IA, Wayne (Cathy) Sanden and Daryl (Heidi) Sanden of Fairmont, 15 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, a brother Allen Sanden of Houston and a sister Sigrid (Calvin) Voshart of Brownsville. He was preceded in death by three sisters. Funeral Services will be 11AM Tuesday at Cross of Christ Lutheran Church with the Reverend Lane Zafke officiating. Burial will follow in Stone Church Cemetery with the Houston American Legion Post conducting military graveside honors. Friends may call from 5-8PM Monday at Hoff Funeral and Cremation Service of Houston. They may also call one hour before services at the church on Tuesday.
