Trempealeau, WI - Gerrit "Gerry" van Eijl, 74, of Trempealeau, WI died on Monday, November 13, 2017, at his home.
Gerry was born on June 12, 1943 in Leerdam, Holland to Gerrit and Jenneke (de Leeuw) van Eijl. As a child, he moved with his family to Southern Ontario, Canada to farm. Gerry was united in marriage with Dianne Coryell on October 8, 1971, in Toronto, Canada. Through the years, he and his family moved to many places including: Manitoba, North Dakota, Minnesota, and most recently, western Wisconsin. Through his career Gerry served as a pastor, worked as a carpenter, organ maker and a farmer. His interests included tractors, gospel music, playing the organ and most of all spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Gerry is survived by his wife, Dianne; four sons: Daniel (Cathy), David (Tracy), Paul (Katie) and Timothy; 14 grandchildren: Morgan, Ethan, Hollind, Graham, Vivian, Francesca, Escher, Hailey, Caleb, Olivia, Clayton, Luke, Cullen and Ainsley; and three siblings: Kees, Jenneke and Joe.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Flooris.
There will be a funeral service for Gerrit at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 17, 2017 at Radiant Church in Winona, MN. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at the church and also one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Trempealeau Community Cemetery in Trempealeau, WI.
Hoff Celebration of Life Center in Goodview is assisting the family with arrangements.
