Gerald "Jerry" Marvin Asleson

January 3, 1942 — August 5, 2021

Rural Stewartville

Gerald M. “Jerry” Asleson, “Pee Wee” to his friends, 79, passed away peacefully August 5, 2021, with his daughter, Kim and son-in-law, Joe by his side. Jerry died at his cherished and beautiful farm, per his wishes.

Jerry was born Jan 3, 1942 in rural Eyota to Anton and Gertrude (Phillips) Asleson. He graduated from Chatfield High School in 1960. Jerry served in the army from 1964 until his honorable discharge to take care of his family farm. Later, he served in the army reserves for 5 years. In 1965, Jerry was united in marriage to Sandra J. Wurtzler. The couple were married for 48 years until Sandra passed away in 2013. In 1970, the couple moved to rural Stewartville, where they worked very hard to make the farm their beautiful home.

Jerry worked at Crenlo for many years, Harvestore Silo Company in Chatfield, then retired from RCTC Maintenance Department. He then worked part time at the Maple Valley Golf Course for the past few years. He couldn’t wait to get to work and loved to mow the lawns there.

Jerry enjoyed snowmobiling with friends and his many trips to Wisconsin. He loved having horses on his hobby farm. Jerry hosted horse shows on his farm for a few years, called the “DEAD END Arena.” He and his wife enjoyed visiting his daughter, Kim and son-in-law in Arizona for many years. Jerry also enjoyed the occasional “road trip” as he called it, with his wife to the casino, until her passing.

Jerry was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra J. Asleson; parents; brothers, Donald, Richard, and Archie Asleson.

He is survived by his daughter, Kim (Joe Roller) Asleson; sisters, Donna Hildestad, of Rochester, and Pat Quandt, of Grand Meadow.

The family would like to extend their thanks to the Mayo Clinic GI/Oncology Team and nurses, Jessica Mitchell C.N.P. and Alison Jacobson RN that took very good care of Jerry for the past two years, and a special thank you to the Mayo Clinic Hospice Team for the wonderful care they gave him. They loved his sense of humor until his passing.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 14, 2021, at the Riley Funeral Home in Chatfield, at 10:00 am, with a visitation one hour prior. Pastor Dan Bredberg will officiate.   Burial will be at Chatfield Cemetery, with military honors by Chatfield’s VFW Giese Kelsey Post 6913.

Thank you to all of the visits from family and friends during this difficult time.
