Francis Gerald ("Gerry") Manemann, 80, of St. Charles, MN, died February 16, 2009, at Seasons Hospice in Rochester. Born May 5, 1928 in Carroll, IA, to Clarence Manemann and Eulalia Murphy, Mr. Manemann graduated from Carroll High School in 1946. His senior year he was center and co-captain of the high school football team. On May 16, 1950, he married Joann Loeffelholz in Mount Carmel, IA. They were married 58 years.Mr. Manemann is survived by his wife Joann; children Debora (John) Welch of Burnsville, MN; Robert (Deborah) Manemann of Plainview, MN; Patricia (Marc) Schoenewe of Olathe, KS; Mary (Stephen) Preston of Washington, DC; Jacqueline Heim of St. Charles; Stacie (Allen) Porter of Chantilly, VA; Jeni (Brian) Claire of Andover, MN; and 14 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter Catherine, his son-in-law Douglas Heim, his parents, and his brother Robert. For 38 years, Mr. Manemann worked in the poultry and egg industry, starting at age 15 and working his way up to manage plants in Iowa, South Carolina, Indiana, and Minnesota. From 1984 until his retirement in 1998, he worked at the U.S. Post Office in Rochester. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1952 to 1954 and was stationed in Japan during the Korean War.Mr. Manemann was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, where he was a past president of the church council, and the American Legion. He enjoyed traveling, cards, fishing, chess, feeding birds, and family gatherings. A Mass of Christian burial will be offered at 2 PM, Sunday, February 22 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in St. Charles with Father James F. Callahan officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery with military honors. Friends may call from 6 - 8 PM Saturday and 1 - 2 PM Sunday at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church.
