Gerald Albert "Schultz" Stark, 86 of Winona and formerly of Altura, died Monday, October 13, 2014 at home surrounded by his family.Jerry was born September 9, 1928 in Altura to Albert and Minnie (Glende) Stark. He attended Altura High School and enlisted in the United States Army serving in Korea. On January 26, 1957, he married Grace Mielke and they made their home in the Altura area until moving to Winona 21 years ago. He worked as a contractor, owning and operating Stark Contracting until he retired at the age of 56. Jerry was a longtime member of the St. Charles American Legion. He enjoyed fishing and could often be found at Crystal Springs twice a day. Jerry also enjoyed puzzles and playing cards with his family and became extremely witty in his last few months.He is survived by his wife, Grace; five children, Loreen (Keith) Belter, Bonny Schell, Nancy Stark, John Stark, Teresa (Dave) Rymarkiewicz; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren with one on the way and two brothers, Curt and Marvin Stark.Jerry was preceded in death by his son-in-law, John Schell; two brothers, Connie and Frank Stark and two sisters, Alice Woxland and Lois Ellinghuysen. Memorial Service will be 11 a.m., Friday, October 17, 2014 at Our Savior's Moravian Church in Altura with the Reverend Dave Sobek officiating. Burial will follow at Hebron Moravian Cemetery where the American Legion Hugh Watson Post #190 and VFW Post 5630 will perform military honors.
