GREETHURST, 83, of St. Charles, Minn. died on Thursday, January 8, 2015, at Mayo Clinic - St. Mary's Campus in Rochester, Minn. surrounded by his family members.George was born on December 15, 1931, in Fremont Township, Minn. to William and Agnes (Hilested) Greethurst. He was raised at Fremont where he attended country school through the eighth grade. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. On October 4, 1952, George was united in marriage with Lorraine Traxinger. He worked all over the United States as a Civil Service fireman and fire chief, until his retirement in the early 1980's. Following his retirement, George worked in Oregon as an apartment manager and in Michigan as a lumber yard manager. He moved to St. Charles where he has lived for the past ten years. George was a member of the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in St. Charles and the Knights of Columbus. George is survived by three children: Michael (Karen) Greethurst, and Gary (Jenny) Greethurst of Enid Oklahoma, and Patti (Duane Rodgers) Greethurst of Skandia, Mich.; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; a brother, William Myer; a sister, Vonda McAllister, and by his step-mother, Lida Greethurst. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lorraine; daughter, Cheryl Greethurst; granddaughter, Rose Carlson; and sister, Donna Fabian. There will be a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 13, 2015, for George at the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in St. Charles. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, January 12, at Hoff Funeral Service in St. Charles, and one hour prior to the Funeral Mass on Tuesday at the church.
