Winona, MNGeorge R. Nash, 87, died Thursday, December 22, 2005 in an automobile accident in Wabasha County, MN. George was born January 21, 1918 in Chicago, IL to George Patrick and Vivian (Smith) Nash. He graduated from DePaul University in Chicago on May 1, 1941. George served in the U. S. Army during WWII. He was a First Lieutenant in the 2nd Field Artillery Battalion and served in the European Theater from June 1943 to June 1947. George married Lorraine Hogensen on April 11, 1942 in Chicago, IL. George and his wife Lorraine, formerly of Park Forest, IL, have been residing in Winona for the past 14 years. George is lovingly remembered for being an avid collector, especially model trains. He was a member of the Elks, American Legion and VFW in Winona.George is survived by his wife, Lorraine; children, Michael (Lori) Nash of Scottsdale, AZ and Marianne (Ronald) Scherbring of Minnesota City, MN; grandchildren, Heather (Will) Nash Hayes of Henderson, NV, Maureen (Russell) Nash Holmes of Scottsdale, AZ, Peter Scherbring of Winona, MN and Matthew (Andrea) Scherbring of Las Vegas, NV; and great grandchildren, Maeve Nash Hayes and Michaela Nash Holmes. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Tom and Phillip Nash and brother-in- law, John Hogensen.A Funeral Mass will be offered on Tuesday, December 27, 2005 at 11:00am at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Rollingstone, MN with the Rev. Donald Lovas officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call at Holy Trinity Catholic Church on Monday from 5-7:00pm where there will be a Christian Prayer Service at 7:00pm. Friends may also call one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Hoff Funeral and Cremation Service Hansen Tribute Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
