George Lee Smith

George Lee Smith, 72, of Winona, died Friday October 12, 2018 at Winona Health. He was born August 22, 1946 in La Crosse, WI to Floyd and Winifred Smith. He grew up in La Crosse. He married Nancy Richmond on June 15, 1974, they later divorced. Together they had one daughter, Mindy.
George served in the US Army. He served in Vietnam from 1967-1968 and was honorably discharged in 1969. George worked for Grede Foundry, Brum Foundry and Badger Foundry until he retired in 2008.
George had many interests and hobbies. He enjoyed fishing, tinkering in his garage, road trips with his sidekick, Donnie Larson. All while enjoying a cold one. Never a day went by without George enjoying his time spent with his pride and joy, his grandson, Mason, aka "Your Highness". George enjoyed being Mason's Servant, and would serve him treats.
George is survived by his daughter, Mindy (Doug) Bolduan; grandson, Mason; ex-wife, Nancy; Nancy's family whom were still family to him, as well as other extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Ivan. Honorary pallbearers include Asa Smith, Allen Bloom, Aaron Bloom (George's Godson), Mason Bolduan, Adam Smith, Dusty Zimmer. A Celebration of George's Life will be held at 12 p.m., Sunday, October 21, 2018 with visitation starting at 10 a.m. at Hoff Celebration of Life Center, Winona, MN. Burial will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Dakota, followed by a reception at the Dakota Fire Hall. Please leave a memory of George at hofffuneral.com
