George David Gabel, peacefully left this world surrounded by his family on November 5, 2023, at the age of 80. George was born on January 6, 1943, in Custer, South Dakota to Lawrence and Barbara Gabel. He grew up on a family farm with eight siblings in Dickenson, North Dakota, then moving to Bismarck, North Dakota.
George dedicated two years of his life serving in the United States Army from 1964 to 1966, proudly defending his country. During his time in the Military at Fort Lewis, Washington he met the love of his life Ruth Urbick. After completing his military service, they were married on November 5, 1966, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Winona, Minnesota. Together, George and Ruth raised four children, creating a loving and nurturing home.
George was known for his strong work ethic, always finding something to do. Whether it was tending to the family farm, tackling household projects, or lending a helping hand to friends and neighbors, George embraced hard work with unwavering dedication. He took great pride in his accomplishments and instilled those values in his children.
In his free time, George enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. He had a love for playing cards, engaging in friendly competition with his loved ones. His greatest joy came from spending quality time with his family and friends.
George is survived by his wife, Ruth; four children Larry (Marti), Wanda (Ron) Tullius, David (Nicole), and Jaci Gabel. Seven grandchildren Collin (Erin) Tullius, Lucas, Rylee and Makenna Gabel, Madisyn Remlinger, Skyler, Savannah, and Adelynn Gabel. Two great grandchildren Evander Remlinger and Owen Tullius.
Memorial Service will take place on Friday, November 10, 2023 at 12p.m. at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Minnesota City, MN. Visitation will be from 10am-12pm. George will be interred at St. Paul's Catholic Cemetery in Minnesota City.
George's family would like to extend a thank you to Winona Health home hospice for their care and support during George's last days at home with the Family.
