George F. Clark

George F. Clark, 85, of rural Dover died Saturday, December 15, 2012 at his children's home with Esther. George was born February 22, 1927 in Rochester to Fred and Frieda (Reiss) Clark. George and Esther Graskamp were married on June 16, 1947 at the Eyota Methodist Church. The couple farmed north of Dover in Quincy Township their entire married lives. George also worked as a welder for Briese Steel in Rochester and for 25 years drove school bus for Dover-Eyota Schools. He was a member and an elder at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in St. Charles. George enjoyed competing with friends and family; playing cards, softball and bowling. He and Esther were active Cub Scout Leaders, receiving the Silver Beaver Award for being involved 50 years in scouting. George had also been a 4-H leader for more than 50 years, having coached 4-H softball. George loved the outdoors, enjoying stargazing, cutting wood and was a gun enthusiast. Survivors include his wife Esther, three children; Ron of Eyota, Rick of Temple City, CA, (Zoe) of Dover and Robin (Bill) Harps of Yucaipa, CA, 9 grandchildren; Amanda, Doron, Tyrel, Logan, Chad, Eric, Will, Rebecca and Ross, 11 great-grandchildren, Sylvie, Cora Adele, Kylie, Noah, Ian, Shawn, Shelby, Alex, Randy, Taylar and Baylie. He was preceded in death by two sons, Ross and Randy, his parents and a brother Clayton "Swede" Clark. Funeral Services will be 11a.m. Saturday at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in St. Charles with the Reverend Larry LaDassor officiating. A reception will follow. Burial will be in Viola Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Friday at Hoff Funeral Service in St. Charles. They may also call one hour before services at the church on Saturday.
