Stockton, George Edward Ressie, 81, of Stockton died Sunday November 13, 2005 at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in LaCrosse. George was born December 30, 1923 in Norton Township of Winona County to George and Elsie (Benck) Ressie. He served in the Army during WWII as a Corporal in the Calvary and fought in Okinawa. On September 26, 1946 George married Kathleen Schumacher. The couple farmed in Hillsdale Township and he worked at Gorman Foundry in Winona. In 1974 they moved to Winona as he continued to work at the foundry until retiring in 1989. In June of 2003 they moved to Stockton. George was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Stockton where he served as a Trustee and on the Finance Board. He also served on the Hillsdale Township Board for many years and was a member of the Winona Veterans of Foreign War Post. He enjoyed fishing. Survivors include his wife Kathleen, four children, George "Butch" (Joyce) Ressie of Lewiston; Diane (Jerry) Rau of Elgin; Cindra (Dick) Andolshek of Minneapolis and Roxanne Ressie of Winona, four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and a brother Clarence (Doreen) Ressie. He was preceded in death by his parents and two grandsons.
