Gene Gary Treichel

Rochester, Gene G. Treichel, 55, of Rochester died Wednesday March 30, 2005 at Seasons Hospice in Rochester. He was born October 7, 1949 in New Ulm to Walter and Marcella (Stoll) Treichel. His family farmed until moving to St. Charles in 1965 and graduated from St. Charles High School in 1967. Gene and Carol McElmury were married on February 3, 1968. In 1968 Gene went to work for the Minnesota Highway Department as a surveyor and later as a new highway construction inspector. He then worked for the Olmsted County Sheriff's Department for three years. For the past 28 years he worked as a Realtor in Rochester, working for Edina Reality the past 10 years. He was a member of the National Association of Realtors, the Southeastern Minnesota Board of Realtors and the Multiple Listing Service. Gene was a member of Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church. He served on the Rochester Zoning Board of Appeals, which he chaired for ten years. He served on many committees in both appointed and elected positions and volunteered for the Red Cross as an assistant damage team coordinator. Survivors include his wife Carol, a son Chad, a daughter Angela, his parents, Walter and Marcella Treichel, a grandson, five granddaughters and a brother Jerry (Barb) Treichel all of Rochester. Funeral Services will be 10:30 AM Friday at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in, Rochester with the Rev. William Otte officiating. Burial will be in Frank Hill Cemetery in rural Winona. Friends may call from 5-8 PM Thursday at Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home in Rochester. They may also call one hour before services Friday at the church. Hoff Funeral Home's ? St. Charles is working with Ranfranz and Vine Funeral Home in assisting the family with arrangements.
