Rushford, Minn: Gary H. "Chip" Hovland, 71, died at his home on Wednesday, April 20, 2016.
Chip was born June 28. 1944 to Bertram and Helen (Colbenson) Hovland in Rushford, MN. He graduated from Rushford High School in 1962. Chip worked at Loerch Implement as a mechanic and parts salesman in Houston, MN. He enjoyed wood working and made rocking horses and many other wood craft projects. Chip enjoyed drinking coffee and visiting with his many friends in Rushford and the surrounding area. He married Linda Brown and they were later divorced. Chip was a member of Rushford Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his two sons, Tyler and Toby Hovland, Rushford, MN; his nine siblings, Bruce (Linda) Hovland, Rushford, Cathy (Dan) Volkman, Lanesboro, MN, Larry (Jenny) Hovland, Veneta, OR, Keith (Cindy) Hovland, Valley City, ND, Joel (Teal) Hovland, Boxelder, SD, Scott (Diane) Hovland, Las Vegas, NV, Davis (Cindy) Hovland, Yoncalla, OR, Heidi (Mike) Halvorson, Rushford, MN, Nathan (Janis) Hovland, Cambridge, IA; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 29, 2016 at Rushford Lutheran Church in Rushford with The Rev. Roger Michaelson officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, April 28, 2016 at Hoff Funeral Home in Rushford, MN and one hour before the service at the church. A private family interment will be held at a later date.
