G. Dale Gjerdrum, 81 of Winona, died Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at Winona Health. Dale was born October 29, 1932 in Winona to Henry and Margaret (Schneider) Gjerdrum. He graduated from Winona Senior High and purchased the Pure Oil Station which he sold when he joined the United States Navy. While stationed in Florida, he met the love of his life, Nancy Thomas Brodmerkel, they were married on May 28, 1955. They made their home in Winona where Dale owned and operated many businesses including Phillips 66 Gas Station, Dale's Highway Shell, Shakey's Pizza, Gjerdrum Realty and GJ's Attic. In May of 2014, Dale retired from Wal-Mart after almost 10 years of employment. He was a member of Central Lutheran Church and a longtime member of the American Legion.Dale enjoyed spending time with his family; especially going on the Mississippi river and visiting Nancy's family in Florida. He also enjoyed his "toys"- boats, motorcycles, scooters and cars. Dale always had a "spare" of everything and couldn't pass up a good deal.He is survived by his wife, Nancy of 59 years; son, Tom (Sue) of Sioux Falls, SD; daughter, Terrianna of Winona; and two granddaughters, Katie & Sarah. He was preceded in death by his parents.Memorial Service will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 11, 2014 at Central Lutheran Church with the Reverend Michelle Rem officiating. Visitation will be 4 - 7 p.m. Friday at Hoff Celebration of Life Center in Goodview and one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Dale will be laid to rest at 9:00 a.m., Monday, October 13 at Woodlawn Cemetery with the American Legion Leon J. Wetzel Post #9 will perform full military honors.
