Fyrn E. O'Dea

Winona, MN Fyrn E. O'Dea, 97, of Winona, MN, died Saturday, January 17, 2009 at Lake Winona Manor in Winona, MN. Fyrn was born on October 24, 1911 in Houston, MN to James E. and Molina (Weom) Parish. She graduated from Houston High School and attended Normal Teacher's Training in Winona, MN. She then worked for the Houston Creamery as a bookkeeper. On September 6, 1945, Fyrn married Donald O'Dea at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Winona, MN. She was a member of Cathedral of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Winona, Spanish American War Veteran's Auxiliary, St Anne's Volunteer Auxiliary and also did a lot of volunteering around the community. Donald passed away on February 13, 1976. Fyrn was a 12 year resident of Lake Winona Manor. She enjoyed watching the Vikings and Twins and did some needlework. She will be dearly missed. Fyrn's family would like to give a special thanks to the caregivers and staff of Lake Winona Manor for their endearing and comforting care. Survivors include two daughters, Kay O'Dea and Pat (Jerry) Haessig, both of Winona, and son Jim (Beth) O'Dea of Winona; three grandchildren, Kevin Haessig of Winona; Kelly (Kelly) O'Dea of Eden Prairie, MN; and Kara (Aaron) Tiesworth of Stanton, MI; two great-grandchildren, Dylan and Logan O'Dea; sister-in-law Violet O'Dea of Austin, MN; and several nieces and nephews. Fyrn is preceded in death by her parents; husband Donald, brother Royal Parish and sister Myrtie Parish. The Memorial Mass for Fyrn will be held at 11:00AM Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at Hoff Funeral & Cremation Service - Hansen Goodview Chapel with Monsignor Roy Literski officiating. Burial will be held at a later date. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the Hoff Funeral Home. Memorials are preferred toLake Winona Manor Therapeutic Recreation Department and Peer Ministry at Cathedral of the Sacred Heart.
