Frieda Neldner Krenzke

Frieda Neldner Krenzke passed away on Friday, June 12, 2009, at the age of 103, at the Lewiston Villa. Frieda was born on October 6, 1905, the 11th of 12 children, to Ernest and Caroline (Bartsch) Neldner on the home farm 2 miles south of Lewiston. She attended St. John's Lutheran Parochial School and then Lewiston High School, where she graduated in 1924. After high school, she worked for Jack Newmann's Pharmacy in Lewiston until her marriage to Herman Krenzke in 1937. Herman was the Postmaster in Lewiston for over 30 years. He passed away in 1989. After her husband's death, Frieda continued to live in their home of nearly 50 years on Main Street in Lewiston. She lived there until the home was destroyed by the Lewiston tornado in July 1999. She then returned to the family farm where she was born to live with her niece, Mrs. Allen (Beverly) Neldner until 2007 when she became a resident at the assisted living home of John and Lori Burt in Utica, where she resided until shortly before her death. Frieda was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Lewiston, where she was active in the Ladies' Guild and the church choir. In 1928 she became a charter member of the American Legion Auxiliary, District No. 90, where she held various offices. She was also a member of the Lewiston Senior Citizens group.Frieda was preceded in death by her parents, husband, 6 brothers, Albert, William, Robert, Herbert, Oscar and Arthur, and 5 sisters, Emma (Lander), Clara (Eitel), Olga, Ella (Sande), and Elsie (Tews). She is survived by many nieces, nephews, great, great-great, and great-great-great nieces and nephews.Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 16th, at 11:00am, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Lewiston with the Reverend Leah Cook McDowell officiating. Burial will be in the Lewiston Public Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
